Color is painted on brown stoneware before bisque firing. Underglaze and glaze is used, I blend colors and constantly experiment with color schemes. Color changes with firing, making the work especially challenging.

SCRAFFITO TECHNIQUE

Black slip is brown before firing, clay will be white.


 I use 2 techniques for surface drawing/painting:
(1) Scraffito thru black slip on white clay  
(2) incised drawing on brown clay 
painted wtih colored slip & glaze
Final firing, high-fire Cone 6 - Electric kiln
